This is how the Lord works:
Sean & I hadn’t caught up for a while, so we decided to go have a cup of coffee… except that Sean wanted to go get some money from the ATM before we left. As things turned out the ATM near my place was shut (they had just started re-filling), so we went off to another ATM.

We landed up opposite Daughter’s of St. Paul & I insisted we couldn’t come all that way & not check out the books (but naturally!). We browsed for a long time but no book seemed to be speaking to me. Finally bought the entire Enid Blyton’s “Malory Towers” set (6 books). I’ve always loved Malory Towers & so many of her other books: Love the “Naughtiest Girl in the School” series & Totally love the “Faraway Tree” series … there’s something about Enid Blyton which lets me escape into another world, another place… I always read her when I need to mentally relax :)

My forcing Sean to go to D of S P, made him force me to accompany him to St. Paul’s next (he hadn’t done with browsing apparently). Being there was a different question - It was as if I heard the Lord saying “That’s the Book… the black one”… It was hidden behind another book and I didn’t even see the cover, just the outer black rim & I picked it up… It was one of my all time favorite authors - Archbishop Fulton Sheen, in fact it was “From The Angel’s Blackboard - The Best of Fulton Sheen”

In terms of depth, the difference doesn’t get wider: Enid Blyton & Fulton Sheen! I know, I know. But on some level they both touch my heart & there’s a time for fiction & a time for fact. A time to escape & a time to face reality. A time to wonder & a time to ponder. And God gives us life in abundance, for us to live all sorts of times :)

After that we thought we’d head on for coffee, but as we passed a church, though I would go in and say hello to my beloved Jesus - only to find there was a prayer meeting on… so we attended with much joy, believing the Lord deliberately brought us to the place. The meeting was fabulous. Rita (Ian’s wife) gave a simple but to-the-point pratical talk on how to “Remain in Jesus” (cf Jn 15; Abide in the vine), stressing on personal prayer, constant communion & restablishing links as soon as broken.

It was all too wonderful for words. Came home rejoicing & completely happy that God is an Almighty and a Good God :D
